This Week on Maui TV News:

A Fresh Start - Maui Gold lives on. The Hali'imaile Pineapple Company officially began operations on New Year's Day. Sixty-eight jobs were saved and pineapple will keep growing on the Valley Isle. We've got the whole story.

Fireworks Disaster - Two Waiehu children were critically burned in a New Year's Day fireworks accident. Maui Police say there were 49 calls for fireworks violations this year. The parents of the two burn victims are the only ones facing charges.

"Severely" Dry - That's the designation of Maui for 2009 - according to the National Weather Service. But, what's the difference between "severe" and "extreme" drought?

Also this week on Maui TV News:

Crystal Ball - Here's your chance to tell the "powers that be" how you think Maui should plan for the next 20 years. The Maui Island Plan is coming to community center near you.

Weekend Detour - Hansen Road in Central Maui is closed this weekend to connect a new section to the old one. It should be safer and - perhaps even more important - smoother.

Salvation! Those red kettles were red hot this holiday season. We'll give you Maui's record total - and tell you about some eye-popping things that happened to Salvation Army kettles elsewhere in Hawai'i.

In Sports - what a busy time of year - particularly for multi-sport athletes in the Maui Interscholastic League. And, in Coming Attractions, a graffiti artist displays his eye-catching work on canvas instead of overpasses or buildings. It's opening this weekend in Pa'ia and it's worth a look.
