Gold lives on. The Hali'imaile Pineapple Company officially began
operations on New Year's Day. Sixty-eight jobs were saved and
pineapple will keep growing on the Valley Isle. We've got the

Disaster -
Two Waiehu children were critically burned in a New Year's Day
fireworks accident. Maui Police say there were 49 calls for fireworks
violations this year. The parents of the two burn victims are
the only ones facing charges.
"Severely"
Dry - That's the designation of Maui for 2009
- according to the National Weather Service. But, what's the difference
between "severe" and "extreme" drought?
