Almost Heaven. Catholics rejoice at the news that Kalaupapa's Blessed Father Damien will soon achieve full Sainthood. Pope Benedict XVI announced that Damien will become a saint on October 11.

Ready for Honu. A band of intrepid workers takes a chunk out of their Saturday to restore a section of Kaiwilipoa Beach in the event that Honu 'Ea (Hawksbill Turtles) may return to nest there as they have in the past.

Less Rain = More Water. Despite near "normal" rains of late, reservoir levels are still a concern for water department officials.But steady trade showers in east Maui are doing much to help resolve that - and cut down on the County's electric bill.
