This Week on Maui TV News:

Blessing the Bypass. Forty years after the idea first emerged, ground was officially broken for Phase 1-A of the Lahaina Bypass. But not everyone at last Friday's blessing was in the same spirit.

Mayor Gets Plugged In. That snappy Toyota Prius with the green lightning bolt zipping quietly around Maui is the County's first PHEV - and one of only 130 in the US...so far. Mayor Charmaine Tavares gets first dibs on the driver's seat.

Mass Transit is Looking Up. Twice as many people in the same amount of vehicle space. How can that be? Doubling up could solve future transportation woes - but in some places it might not be a "fit."

Also this week on Maui TV News:

Truly "Affordable." Wailuku commuters saw a house on a main street that wasn't there a day or two before. The FABMAC home could be an answer to the oxymoron of "affordable housing."

Green Up to Clean Up. Thousands turn out to spruce up our island every year during Community Work Day's Keep America Beautiful campaign. We'll take you to a couple of South Maui project sites.

Pet Peeves. An overstuffed Cameron Center room was the site of a contentious annual board meeting of the Maui Humane Society. Tempers flared when some refused to either "sit" or "stay."

In Sports! Kalapana takes us out to the unofficial start of the outrigger canoe racing season at the 27th annual Kihei Paddler's Open. Then he heads to Kalama Park for Opening Day of Little League season

And Summer Gaddis has the rundown on a very busy weekend and week ahead. Get pen and paper and plan your social calerndar with all the details you'll learn this week in Coming Attractions.

All this and more this week on Maui TV News.
