We
apologize for the tardiness of this week's edition of Maui
TV News. Our staff - and our schedule - were hit
hard with the flu late last week. Fortunately for us - and for
Hawai'i, it's not H1N1 (Swine Flu). In addition to being late,
our show is an abbreviated edition this week - but covers stories
that we felt you should see and know about.
This Week on Maui TV News:
Hawai'i Prepares for Swine Flu.
Daily online press briefings are keeping everyone informed as
to the status of potential flu cases in Hawai'i, steps to detect
those cases and what to do if and/or when Swine Flu reaches our
shores. Plus, we have a list of tips of how to prepare if the
illness crosses the Pacific.
Deja Vu at Mile Marker 21.
Almost exactly four weeks after the first time the hillside came
crashing down along Hana Highway at Mile Marker 21, heavy rains
prompted another sludgefest. And road crews responded in record
time - again. We have pictures and video.
Not Mud - but Boulders.
Huge boulders came down on the roadway at Mile Marker 15 of the
Kahekili Highway last Thursday night. County and State road crews
slashed a passable path but had to postpone major work until the
following Monday. But then, guess how they spent their weekend
off? Maui workers are no ka oi.
Hurdles Hurdled. Maui County
Councilmembers have pared the 2010 budget down to a manageable
figure - even with Transient Accomodations shares from the state
still in Limbo.
In Sports!
we have video from the first-ever official Maui Interscholastic
League Surfing Championship last Saturday at Ho'kipa. Which school
gets the first set of official bragging rights? Plus the amazing
end to the M-I-L Division One baseball season.
And Summer
Gaddis is here with May Day events from across the Island and
then some. She's got it all this week this week in Coming
Attractions.
All this and
more this week on Maui TV News.
