leaders last week and lad out her pan for dealing with projected
revenue shortfalls over the next biennium. But she also posed
the piercing question, "what are you for?

- The latest report from the University of Hawai'i Economic Research
Organization shows the worst may be behind us - but that recovery,
particularly in construction jobs, may still take more than a
year. Still, the report wasn't all bad news.

The recession of 2009 is having an unintended consequence - people
are going back to college. In fact, all 10 U-H campuses across
the state are reporting record enrollment for the fall - and Maui
Community College is leading the way.

- An unintended consequence of the "No Child Left Behind"
Act is that state education officials are required to provide
personal information on public school students to military recruiters.
