FROM THE VISIONARY RADIO NEWS CENTER, I'M JEFF KING WITH MAUI TV NEWS.

ONE HUNDRED AND SIXTY-FIVE THOUSAND PEOPLE VISITED MAUI LAST MONTH. WHILE THAT'S A LOT - IT'S DOWN ABOUT ONE AND A HALF PERCENT FROM THE PREVIOUS DECEMBER. THE FINAL VISITOR NUMBERS FOR 2009 WERE RELEASED TODAY BY THE HAWAII TOURISM AUTHORITY AND WHILE MAUI SLIPPED JUST A FRACTION, OVERALL THE STATE NUMBERS ROSE TWO-POINT FOUR PERCENT FRO 2008. WE'VE GOT THE COMPLETE REPORT AT MAUI TV NEWS DOT COM. JUST CLICK ON THE LINK TO BREAKING NEWS.

BUT A PLANELOAD OF PEOPLE TRYING TO LEAVE MAUI SUNDAY WENT ON A WILD DETOUR. SUNDAY NIGHT A UNITED AIRLINES FLIGHT FROM MAUI TO SAN FRANCISCO RAN INTO A STORM AND TRIED TO GO UNDER IT. THEY WOUND UP USING TOO MUCH FUEL TO AVOID THE STORM THAT THEY HAD TO TURN AROUND AND LAND IN HONOLULU. IT DIDN'T LEAVE AGAIN UNTIL YESTERDAY MORNING.

ISLAND WEATHER, TONIGHT, WINDY, HAZY, PARTLY CLOUDY AND ISOLATED SHOWERS WITH LOWS IN THE 60S. TOMORROW, MOSTLY SUNNY WITH SOME HAZE WITH HIGHS IN THE LOWER 80S.

FROM THE VISIONARY RADIO NEWS CENTER FOR MAUI TV NEWS, I'M JEFF KING.
