FROM THE VISIONARY RADIO NEWS CENTER, I'M JEFF KING WITH MAUI TV NEWS. A 42-year-old Kihei woman became Maui's first traffic fatality of the year last night when she was struck by a sport utility vehicle while standing in a lane on Piilani Highway in Kihei. Maui police said Shannon L. Vannatta was hit shortly after 9 p.m. She was pronounced dead at Maui Memorial Medical Center. The driver of the SUV, a 23-year-old Kihei man, was not injured. Police said Vannatta's car was found parked and unattended on the shoulder of the highway. ON THE BIG ISLAND THOSE NASTY LITTLE FIRE ANTS HAVE NOW SPREAD FROM THE EAST SIDE TO THE WEST SIDE. TODAY THE STATE DEPARTMENT OF HEALTH CONFIRMED THEY FOUND THE TINY BUT PAINFULLY-STINGING CREATURES IN TWO LOCATIONS NEAR KAILUA-KONA. LAST OCTOBER A COLONY OF THE LITTLE FIRE ANTS WAS DISCOVERED NEAR THE OLD WAIHEE DAIRY FARM ON MAUI. ISLAND WEATHER, TONIGHT, SCATTERED SHOWERS - SOME LOCALLY HEAVY - WITH LOWS IN THE 60S. TOMORROW, PARTLY SUNNY WITH SCATTERED SHIOWERS AND HIGHS IN THE LOWER 80S. FROM THE VISIONARY RADIO NEWS CENTER FOR MAUI TV NEWS, I'M JEFF KING. |
