CEC HEFTEL DIED YESTERDAY IN SAN DIEGO. HEFTEL OWNED KGMB AM, FM AND TV DURING THE 60S AND 70S - AND SOLD THE TV STATION IN 1977 TO RUN FOR THE U.S. CONGRESS. HE RESIGNED THAT SEAT IN 1986 TO RUN FOR GOVERNOR, BUT LOST TO JOHN WAIHEE. CEC HEFTEL WAS 85.

WHILE THE REST OF US STRUGGLED THROUGH 2009, HAWAIIAN AIRLINES SOARED TO RECORD PROFITS. HAWAIIAN CEO MIKE DUNKERLEY ATTRIBUTES THE 117 MILLION DOLLAR NET PROFIT TO HARD WORK, A RECORD EIGHT POINT THREE MILLION PASSENGERS AND A 42 PERCENT DROP IN FUEL PRICES.
