J: BIG CHANGES TAKE EFFECT THIS WEEK ON MAUI WITH THE CELL PHONE BAN AND A ZERO TOLERANCE STANCE BY POLICE. AND BIG DANGER LOOMS AS FIRES KEEP CREWS BUSY ACROSS THE ISLAND.

(ON-CAM) THOSE ARE TWO OF OUR TOP STORIES THIS WEEK, PLUS WE'LL HAVE OUR NEWEST INSTALLMENT IN OUR "GOT CHOICE? THINK LOCAL!" SERIES FEATURING A BUSINESS THAT PROVES THAT "HOME MAID" IS BEST.

IN SPORTS, NA KOA IKAIKA MAUI ARE BACK HOME AND IN CURTAIN CALL, PAUL JANES-BROWN REVIEWS THE LATEST MINI-MAJOR-MAUI PRODUCTION OF ALADDIN JUNIOR.. ALL THAT PLUS COMING ATTRACTIONS THIS WEEK ON MAUI TV NEWS.

(intro-FF)

J: ALOHA EVERYONE. AND THANK YOU FOR TUNING IN THIS WEEK TO MAUI TV NEWS - I'M JEFF KING AND THIS IS MAUI'S EXCLUSIVE ONLINE AND TELEVISION NEWSCAST - AND WE'RE NOW AVAILABLE - IN SELECTED AREAS - IN HIGH DEFINITION, AND WE HOPE YOUR AREA HAS BEEN SELECTED. WHILE GOVERNOR LINDA LINGLE'S HISTORIC DECISION ON THE VETO OF THE CIVIL UNIONS BILL GRABBED ALL THE HEADLINES ACROSS HAWAI'I ON TUESDAY - QUIETLY A POWERFUL NEW LAW TOOK EFFECT HERE IN MAUI COUNTY.

(Take Cell Ban Pkg) WITH NO POMP OR CIRCUMSTANCE, MAYOR CHARMAINE TAVARES SIGNED ORDINANCE 37-53 INTO LAW TUESDAY AFTERNOON. THE BILL BANS THE USE OF ELECTRONIC HAND-HELD DEVICES BY DRIVERS. OVER THE AGE OF 18, VEHICLE OPERATORS WILL BE ALLOWED TO KEEP TALKING IF THEY USE ONE OF THESE WIRELESS EARBUDS OR HEADSETS. UNDE THE AGE OF 18 - NO TALKING OR TEXTING ALLOWED. RETAIL OUTLETS ON MAUI REPORT BRISK SALES OF MOBILE HEADSETS. AT THE KAHULUI VERIZON WIRELESS STORE, MANAGER ANDE STENDER RECALLS HER EXPERIENCE ON O'AHU BEFORE MOVING TO MAUI. SHE'S SEEN THE RECENT SPIKE IN SALES - AND EXPECTS TO SEE THE STRAGGLERS.

Ande Stender, Manager, Verizon Store, Kahului

AS03: "There definitely has been a spike as of late. There's always a couple of people who come in with a ticket afterward and they tell us about their war stories - how they thought they could get away with it - for instance, they thought that hands free meant I could turn the speaker on keep my hand in the air, which of course you can't because you have to be completely hands-free."

MAUI POLICE CHIEF GARY YABITA HAS SAID HIS DEPARTMENT WILL ENFORCE LAWS DESIGNED TO PROTECT THE PUBLIC - UNDERSCORING WHAT MAYOR TAVARES SIGNED AND WHAT COUNCILMEMBER JOE PONTANILLA PROPOSED NINE MONTHS AGO. TWO HANDS AND ONE MIND ON THE WHEEL ARE THE SAFEST WAY TO DRIVE.

(ON-CAM TAG) AND YOU NEED TO BE CAREFUL ABOUT ELECTRONIC GADGETS. WHILE SHOOTING THIS STORY, I HAD INTENDED TO USE THIS LITTLE HI-DEF CAMERA TO SEE IF DRIVERS WERE USING THEIR CELL PHONES. BUT - IT'S AN ELECTRONIC DEVICE AND - IF SPOTTED - I COULD HAVE GOTTEN A TICKET. IF YOU'D LIKE TO READ THE BILL'S LANGUAGE, PARAMETERS AND WHAT FEW EXCEPTIONS THERE ARE, WE HAVE THEM FOR YOU ON OUR WEBSITE. JUST GO TO MAUITVNEWS DOT COM AND FOLLOW THE LINK TO THIS WEEK'S STORIES.

(FIRES)(PiP-FIRE)

J: MAUI FIRE OFFICIALS HAVEN'T RELEASED ANY DATA YET ON HOW MANY OF THEIR FIRE CALLS THIS WEEKEND WERE FIREWORKS RELATED. BUT THEY WERE BUSY.

(VO) ON MONDAY THERE WERE THREE FIRES GOING STRONG. THIS FIRE IN THE MIDDLE OF A CANE FIELD ALONG MOKULELE HIGHWAY WAS FIRST REPORTED MONDAY AT 1-40 P.M.. THE SMOKE WAS IMPRESSIVE BUT HAWAIIAN COMMERCIAL AND SUGAR CREWS KEPT THE FIELD FROM COMPLETELY GOING UP IN SMOKE.

(CON'T VO) A FIRE ON HC&S LAND ABOVE PA'IA WAS REPORTED EARLIER MONDAY AFTERNOON. AIR ONE MADE WATER DROPS AND HC&S CREWS KNOCKED DOWN THE BLAZE - BUT HEAVY SMOKE AND THE MOVEMENT OF FIRE TRUCKS AND PERSONNEL CAUSED THE CLOSURE OF A PORTION OF BALDWIN AVENUE FOR ABOUT AN HOUR AND A HALF.

(ON-CAM) THE MOST STUBBORN FIRE OF THE WEEK WAS FIRST REPORTED JUST BEFORE MIDNIGHT ON THE FOURTH OF JULY. ABOUT 130 ACRES ABOVE THE LAHAINA CIVIC CENTER WERE CHARRED BY THE BLAZE - WHICH KEPT FIRE CREWS ON THE SCENE AND ON CALL FOR THREE CONSECUTIVE DAYS AND NIGHTS.

ON O'AHU, FIRE DEPARTMENT OFFICIALS ARE RENEWING THEIR CALL FOR A TOTAL BAN ON FIREWORKS. OF THE 26 CALLS THEY RESPONDED TO OVER THE WEEKEND ON O'AHU - AT LEAST EIGHT OF THE FIRES WERE STARTED BY FIREWORKS.

(MOLO TCHR)(PiP-BOEING-NASA)

J: FROM THE FRIENDLY ISLE TO OUTER SPACE - SORT OF. A FIFTH GRADE TEACHER FROM MOLOKA'I HGAS BEEN SELECTED AS THE ONLY TEACHER FROM HAWAI'I AND ONE OF JUST 100 TEACHERS FROM AROUND THE WORLD TO TAKE PART IN SPACE CAMP AT THE U.S. SPACE AND ROCKET CENTER IN HUNTSVILLE ALABAMA.

DAVID GONZALES IS A FIFTH GRADE TEACH AT KAUNAKAKAI ELEMENTARY SCHOOL. HE WAS SELECTED BY A CONSORTIUM THAT INCLUDED THE BOEING COMPANY AND THE MAUI ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BOARD. GONZALES WILL SPEND A WEEK AT SPACE CAMP AND GET TO DO COOL STUFF LIKE SIMULATED SPACE MISSIONS, ASTRONAUT TRAINING AND ROCKET SCIENCE LECTURES FROM ACTUAL ROCKET SCIENTISTS.

THE IDEA IS TO SEND HIM - AND ALL THE OTHER PARTICIPATING TEACHERS - BACK TO THE CLASSROOM WITH A BETTER GRASP AND LOVE OF THE SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY ENGINEERING AND MATH SKILLS THAT EDUCATORS WANT TO PASS ALONG TO FUTURE ASTRONAUTS AND TECHNICIANS - WHETHER OR NOT THEY VISIT MARS.

GONZALES WILL RETURN WITH A NASA-PROVIDED LESSON PLAN WORKBOOK AND MATERIALS TO USE IN THE CLASSROOM - INCLUDING EXPERIMENTS TO ENLIVEN YOUNG MINDS. FOR NEARLY 20 YEARS THE BOEING COMPANY HAS SPONSORED SPACE CAMP - HOSTING MORE THAN 700 TEACHERS THERE SINCE 1992 - AND IS ESTIMATED TO HAVE REACHED MORE THAN 30,000 STUDENTS AROUND THE WORLD AS A RESULT.

(A-TOSS-B)

J: UP NEXT ON MAUI TV NEWS, NO MATTER TIME OF DAY IT IS - A HOT MALASADA IS ALWAYS JUST RIGHT - BUT ONLY IF IT'S HOME-MAID. OUR NEXT GOT CHOICE THINK LOCAL FEATURE AND AN ECO-FRIENDLY FLOWER-WORKS SHOW FOR THE FOURTH OF JULY IN KA'ANAPALI. THOSE STORIES AND MUCH MORE WHEN MAUI TV NEWS CONTINUES.

(B-BLOCK)

(GCTL-HOME MAID)(PiP-GCTL LOGO)

J: WITH A LOT OF US THINKING MORE AND MORE ABOUT BUYING AND SUPPORTING “LOCAL,” MAUI COUNTY’S “GOT CHOICE? THINK LOCAL!” CAMPAIGN IS A GREAT REMINDER OF JUST HOW IMPORTANT THAT IS.

AND THIS WEEK WE HAVE A VERY SWEET REMINDER OF HOW MUCH BETTER THINGS TASTE WHEN THEY’RE “HOME MAID.”

(TAKE GCTL-HOMEMAID PKG) THERE ARE INSTITUTIONS, AND THERE ARE INSTITUTIONS...BUT ON MAUI ONE INSTITUTION HAS BEEN PLEASING ALL OF THE PEOPLE ALL OF THE TIME FOR 50 YEARS.

Jeremy Kozuki, President of Home Maid Bakery

JK01: "The bakery started back in 1960 by Joe and Monica Kozuki, my parents, and the three brothers - myself, Jeremy, my other brother Alan and Joseph. We started on Market Street. We started with two basic products: turnovers and a cake doughnut that was not fried. It was done in a similar to a waffle iron press. ///We called it a pretty healthy product. From there we got to the bakery we are today where we make everything from a dinner roll up to a five-tier wedding cake."

MAUIS HOME MAID BAKERY IS A NON-STOP THRILL RIDE FOR YOUR TASTE BUDS. NOT ONLY DO THEY MAKE THE SWEET TREATS THAT MAUI CRAVES - BUT THEY DO IT 24-7/365...WITH ONLY A COUPLE OF EXCPTIONS.

JK02: "The plant itself is open 24-7. We close for a couple of hours on Christmas Day and a couple of hours on New Year's Day."

AND THEN THERE'S USUALLY A LINE OF CUSTOMERS WAITING FOR THE OPERATION TO GET GOING AGAIN. THIS YEAR HOME MAID BAKERY CELEBRATES 50 YEARS OF BRINGING GOODIES LIKE THESE TO A VORACIOUS POPULATION - AND, FROM THE BEGINNING UNDER THE WATCHFUL EYE OF MONICA KOZUKI, IT'S ALL BEEN - QUITE LITERALLY - HOME MAID.

JK03: "That's our trademark - that's our culture - to make everything by scratch. Basically we had a one-man, a one-woman approval board, and that's my mother. ///

AND AS SWEET AS MONICA KOZUKI WAS - SWEETNESS WAS A BIG DEAL TO HER.

JK03B: "Basically if I was going to put a label on our product, it's not a very sweet product. My mom - if it was too sweet - would say - the first thing she would say is we gotta' cut down the sugar. It was a very strict, very strict approval process."

MONICA KOZUKI PASSED AWAY IN OCTOBER OF 2009 LEAVING A LEGACY OF THIS FAMILY OWENED AND OPERATED BUSINESS THAT JEREMY HOPES WILL CONTINUE ALONG TO HIS CHILDREN, SHANE, KIM AND MARK KOZUKI.

HOME MAID BAKERY HAS DOZENS OF SIGNATURE ITEMS THAT ARE LOCAL FAVORITES AND IN HIGH DEMAND ACROSS THE STATE. LEAD AMONG THEM: THEIR HOT MALASADAS.

JK04: "We started malasadas in the early 60s. Back then the island was very rural. It was a matter of survival and whenever we added something onto our product line it was a matter of trying to meet the rent. We kndew about hot malasadas and so we were the first on the island to do that up on Market Street. But we've been doing that nowe or about 50 years."

THE NEXT PHENOMENON WAS THEIR WORLD FAMOUS CRISPY MANJU - WHICH RANKS RIGHT UP THERE WITH OTHER TASTE TREATS IDENTIFIED WITH A SPECIFIC PLACE - FOR OMIYAGE - OR GIFTS TO BRING HOME.

JK05: "You go to San Francisco and you want to bring home sourdough bread. Here on Maui you want to take home guri guri from the Tasaka family.Maui potato chips, uh,Kamodo's cream puffs and you have Home Maid Bakery's crispy manju. So I'm very, very grateful that we've had a loyal following."

AS A BUSINESSMAN, THOUGH, KOZUKI NOTED THAT THEERE ARE TWO SIDES TO THAT LOYALTY. BAKED GOODS HAVE AN EXTREMELEY SHIORT SHELF LIFE, SO HOT FROM THE OVEN CRISPY MANJU OR MALASADAS ARE HUGELY POPULAR ON MAUI - BUT THEY DON'T KEEP WELL, SO EXPORTING THEM IS VERY DIFFICULT. ABOUT 50 OUTLETS ON O'AHU SELL HOME MAID BAKERY'S CRISY MANJU - AND JEREMY EXPLAINED HOW TO MAKE A DAY OLD MANJU TASTE ALMOST AS WONDERFUL AS IT WOULD THE DAY IT WAS MADE.

JK06: "We have little stickers that say to refresh the manju is to put it in a toaster over, not a microwave oven, but a toaster oven - that's the secret and it will come back to 95 percent of its original state."

HOME MAID BAKERY WILL REMAIN HOME MAID ON MAUI. ABOUT 75 PERCENT OF THEIR BUSINESS IS THROUGH MAJOR GROCERY STORES AND RETAIL OUTLETS INCLUDING THESE. THEY DO SABOUT 25 PERCENT OF THEIR BUSINESS OUT OF THEIR RETAIL STORES IN WAILUKU AND KAHULUI. AS WILDLY POPULAR AS THEIR PRODUCTS ARE, THERE NO PLANS TO FRANCHISE THE BUSINESS - EVEN THOUGH NOTED ECONOMIST PAUL BREWBAKER SAID THE RECESSION ENDED AS OF JULY FIRST.

JK07: "So, hey everybody, the recesion is over. Let's go out there and buy more doughnuts - especially from our bakery."

AND, AS A MEMBER OF MAUI COUNTY'S GOT CHOICE? THINK LOCAL, WITH A DOWNLOADABLE COUPON YOU GET A ONE AND A HALF POUND LOAF OF THEIR FAMOUS MAUI CRUNCH BREAD FOR JUST TWO-99. LIMIT ONE PER CUSTOMER.

AH BUT THEREIN LIES THE RUB. WHEN IT'S THIS GOOD, THIS CONSISTENT FOR HALF A CENTURY - IT'S EXTREMELY DIFFICLUT TO LIMIT ANY ONE OF THESE TREATS TO JUST ONE PER CUSTOMER BUT WHAT ISN'T DIFFICULT IS THE DECISION. WHEN IT'S QUALITY BAKED GOODS OF ALL KINDS FOR ALL OCCASSIONS - WHEN YOU GOT CHOICE? THINK LOCAL THINK HOME MAID BAKERY.

(FLOWER WORKS)(PiP-WESTIN-ORCHID)

J: FIREWORKS ON A BRIGHT HAWAIIAN DAY JUST DON'T WORK. SO IN A UNIQUELY HAWAIIAN WAY, THE WESTIN MAUI RESORT AND SPA DID SOMETHING TO CELEBRATE OUR NATION'S INDEPENDENCE THAT WAS MOST APPROPRIATE.

(VO) INSTEAD OF FIREWORKS - IT WAS 'FLOWERWORKS" ON THE FOURTH OF JULY. THEY CALL IT THE "HAWAIIAN FLOWER SHOWER." "FLOWEWRWORKS" HAPPENED WHEN RESORT EXECUTIVE NATHAN DAVIS SHOWERED THE 87-THOUSAND SQUARE FOOT POOL DECK WITH THOUSANDS OF ORCHIDS DROPPED FROM A HELICOPTER. AMONG THOSE LOVELY WHITE BLOSSOMS WERE FIVE RED ROSES. GUESTS WHO CLAIMED THOSE FIVE ROSES RECEIVED VERY SPECIAL PRIZES.

KIRSTEN CIRELLA FROM AUSTRALIA GRABBED THE ROSE THAT EARNED HER A 50-MINUTE RELAXING SPA EXPERIENCE AT THE HEAVENLY SPA BY WESTIN. OTHER ROSE RECIPIENTS RECEIVED PRIZES RANGING FROM FREE MEALS TO COMPLIMENTARY LU'AU TREATS.

(ON-CAM) THE ANNUAL FOURTH OF JULY EVENT AT THE WESTIN IS DESIGNED TO SHOW GUESTS THAT THE HOLIDAY DOESN'T HAVE TO WAIT UNTIL AFTER DARK AND THAT THE ALOHA EXPERIENCE AND PATRIOTISM RUN HAND-IN-HAND.

(BOH-SNAP)(PiP-SNAP LOGO)

J: NO MATTER WHAT THE HEADLINES SAY - MANY PEOPLE IN HAWAII ARE STILL HURTING - GOING HUNGRY NEEDLESSLY. WELL, THE SALVATION ARMY AND THE BANK OF HAWAII ARE TEAMING UP TO ASSIST QUALIFIED FAMILIES IN MAUI COUNTY TO ACCESS UNUSED FEDERAL FOOD STAMPS. CAN YOU BELIEVE IT? LAST YEAR AN ESTIMATED 17 MILLION DOLLARS IN FOOD STAMPS WENT UNCOLLECTED IN HAWAII BECAUSE APPLICANTS WERE UNABLE TO FILL OUT THE REQUIRED STATE FORMS.

THE PROGRAM IS CALLED "SNAP." WHICH STANDS FOR SUPPLEMENTAL NUTRITION ASSISTANCE PROGRAM. THE WAY IT WORKS IS THAT BANK OF HAWAII EMPLOYEES AND SALVATION ARMY MEMBERS ARE TAKING PERSONAL TIME TO SIT DOWN AND HELP FAMILIES WADE THROUGH THE PAPERWORK TO GET THE NUTRITION THEY NEED FOR EVERYONE IN THEIR 'OHANA. IT'S ESTIMATED THAT SOMEWHERE BETWEEN 15 THOUSAND AND 20 THOUSAND FAMILIES ON MAUI ALONE CAN BENEFIT FROM THE SNAP PROGRAM.

IF TIMES ARE TOUGH FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY, YOU OWE TO YOURSELF TO CHECK OUT THE SNAP PROGRAM. IT COULD MEAN AN ADDITIONAL 145 DOLLARS PER MONTH PER FAMILY MEMBER TO BUY HEALTHY, NUTRITIOUS FOOD.

(FF-cg-vo) THERE HAVE ALREADY BEEN A FEW SIGNUP OPPRTUNITIES BUT THERE ARE MANY, MANY MORE BETWEEN NOW AND LABOR DAY. FOR THE TIME, DATE AND LOCATION NEAREST YOU, GO TO MAUI TV NEWS DOT COM AND CLICK ON THE LINK TO THIS WEEK'S STORIES.

(B-TOSS-C)

J: UP NEXT ON MAUI TV NEWS, ON THE ROAD AGAIN AIN'T NECESSARILY A GOOD THING IF YOU'RE THE BOYS OF SUMMER FROM MAUI NEI. WE'LL EXPLAIN WHEN WE COME BACK. AND - ALADDIN JUNIOR IS MAGICAL AND MARVELOUSLY PORTRAYED ON THE VALLEY ISLE. PAUL JANES-BROWN HAS A FEW VIEW WHEN MAUI TV NEWS COMES BACK.

(C-BLOCK)

J: CHECKING SPORTS, WELCOME HOME - AND NOT A MINUTE TOO SOON! NA KOA IKAIKA MAUI LANDED BACK ON THE VALLEY ISLE AFTER A ROAD TRIP THAT SAW THEM PLAY 500 BALL - BUT IT WAS GOOD ENOUGH TO INCREASE THEIR LEAD IN THE SOUTH DIVISION OF THE GOLDEN BASEBALL LEAGUE OVER THE YUMA SCORPIONS. NA KOA HAS TO MAKE UP THREE GAMES BY THIS WEEKEND TO DEEM THE FIRST HALF OF THEIR SEASON COMPLETE AND OFFICIALLY BE RECOGNIZED IN THE TOP SPOT. BUT THEY'LL HAVE TO DO BETTER THAN THEY DID IN THEIR FIRST GAME AGAINST VICTORIA. A SELLOUT CROWD WATCHED AS NA KOA LOST TO THE SEALS SEVEN TO ONE. THAT - COMBINED WITH A WIN BY YUM, MOVED MAUI TO SECOND PLACE IN THE SOUTH DIVISION.

(CURTAIN CALL)(PiP - PJB)

J: MAUI ACADEMY OF PERFORMING ARTS IS PRESENTING THEIR FINEST EFFORT IN THE PRODUCTION OF DISNEY’S ALADDIN JR. THIS SHOW IS SO POPULAR THEY ADDED ANOTHER SHOW ON SATURDAY AT 5 P.M. PAUL JANES-BROWN WAS ONE OF THE LUCKY ONES TO SEE IT AND HE HAS THIS REVIEW FOR CURTAIN CALL

PJB: WITH MORE THAN 200 CHARACTERS PERFORMED BY 56 YOUNG PEOPLE RANGING FROM ELEMENTARY TO HIGH SCHOOL ONE HAS TO MARVEL AT THE ABILITY OF DIRECTOR, THE WONDERFUL KATHLEEN SCHULZ AND HER TALENTED TEAM TO DIRECT THE TRAFFIC.

BUT THEY DO MUCH, MUCH MORE. IN THIS DISNEYFICATION OF THE TALE THAT IS CURRENTLY CELEBRATING ITS 300TH YEAR OF PUBLICATION, IT’S A CLASSIC STORY OF A ROYAL, THE SULTAN IN THIS CASE, PLAYED WITH APPROPRIATE OFFICIOUSNESS AND AUTHORITY BY RYAN FOREE WHO WANTS TO MARRY OFF HIS DAUGHTER, THE BEAUTIFUL AND TALENTED HALIA HAINES AS JASMINE. OF COURSE SHE WANTS NOTHING TO DO WITH BEING TOLD WHO TO LOVE AND FLEES WHERE SHE MEETS A NEER DO WELL ALADDIN PLAYED BY HANDSOME AND EARNEST KAVYKA SOUZA WHOSE SMILE IS INCANDESCENT. THEIR FOILS IN THIS STORY ARE JAFAR THE VIZEAR WHO IS REALIZED BY SHANE BORGE A TRULY FINE YOUNG ACTOR.

BUT THE ONE WHO ALMOST STEALS THE SHOW AND STEALS EVERY SCENE IN WHICH SHE APPEARS IS THE REMARKABLE ESTHER POWERS WHO PLAYS JAFAR’S EVIL SIDEKICK IAGO THE PARROT. THIS YOUNG WOMAN HAS GREAT ELOCUTION, COMIC TIMING THAT MANY ADULTS WOULD KILL FOR AND A MAGNETIC STAGE PRESENCE, NOT TO MENTION SHE SPORTS A GREAT COSTUME PARTICULARLY HER JIMMY DURANTE SCHNOZZOLA. WHOOPS MY AGE IS SHOWING!

OTHER CAST MEMBERS OF NOTE ARE THE ALWAYS RELIABLE ELIZA WRIGHT WHO HAS A STAGE PRESENCE FAR BEYOND HER YEARS. HALIA’S SISTER, NANEA HAYNES AS THE MAGIC CARPET IS AS TALENTED A DANCER AS HER SISTER IS A SINGER AND ACTOR. I HAVE IT FROM HER GRANDMOTHER HONEY BUN THAT NANEA IS A GREAT SINGER AS WELL. MAYBE THERE’S A DUET COMING IN THE FUTURE?

GABRIEL FRAMPTON IS VERY CONVINCING AS THE MONKEY ABU AND KAIMANA NEIL IS APPROPRIATELY ANACHRONISTIC AND CHARMING AS THE GENIE.

THE TEAM THAT PUT THIS GREAT PRODUCTION TOGETHER INCLUDES BARRY JONES WHO CHOREOGRAPHED BRILLIANTLY. THE AMAZING MICHALLE MCCOY HAS RETURNED TO PERFORM HER COSTUME MAGIC AND OF COURSE SCHULZ HAD HER HAND IN THE COSTUMES AS WELL. THIS SHOW IS A TRUE FEAST FOR THE EYES. THANKS MICHALLE AND KATHLEEN. THE UBIQUITOUS CARO WALKER CREATED THE SET, MARTI CLUTH WAS THE MUSICAL DIRECTOR AND MARK COLLMER HAD THE LIGHTS. ACTING COACHES INCLUDED SALLY SEFTON, EVA SIKES AND FRANCIS TAU’A WHO WE’LL BE SEEING AT THE TROPICAL PLANTATION AS LT. CABLE IN MAPA’S PRODUCTION OF SOUTH PACIFIC.

THE ONE THING THAT WAS PROBLEMATIC ABOUT THIS SHOW WAS THE IN AND OUT SOUND. WON’T SOMEONE BUY MAPA A GREAT SOUND SYSTEM SO THE TERRIFIC PERFORMERS DON’T HAVE TO FIGHT AGAINST THE VAGARIES OF THE CURRENT ONE? IF YOU ARE LUCKY YOU MIGHT GET A TICKET TO THE ADDED SHOW ON SAT AT FIVE. FOR MORE DETAILS GO TO MAUINEWSTV.COM. AND CLICK THE LINK TO COMING ATTRACTIONS.

THAT’S CURTAIN CALL FOR THIS WEEK I’M PAUL JANES BROWN A HUI HOU AND GO SEE LIVE THEATER. STAY TUNED FOR COMING ATTRACTIONS – UP NEXT ON MAUI TV NEWS, RIGHT AFTER THESE MESSAGES
