(Headlines - VO)

A. J: WITH TROUBLED WATERS LOOMING AHEAD THE HAWAII SUPERFERRY MADE WAY THROUGH CALM SEAS ON IT'S FIRST PASSENGER RUNS TO AND FROM MAUI.

JY: ONCE THOUGHT TO BE A PROBLEM JUST ON O'AHU, COPPER THEFTS PLAGUE MAUI ELECTRIC COMPANY. WE'LL SHOW YOU WHAT MECO - AND LOCAL RECYCLERS - ARE DOING ABOUT IT.

J: AND IN CASE YOU MISSED IT, WE'LL SHOW YOU THE HIGHLIGHTS - ER LOWLIGHTS - OF MONDAY NIGHT'S TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE.

JY: IN SPORTS, THE M-I-L KICKED OFF THE FOOTBALL PRESEASON THIS WEEK. AND M-I-L BOWLERS HAD STRIKES TO SPARE. KALAPANA WILL HAVE HIGHLIGHTS IN SPORTS ON MAUI TV NEWS.

J: AND IT'S MUSIC, FOOD AND FUN WITH A SWASHBUCKLING FLARE THIS WEEK. JULIE Y WILL HAVE DETAILS ON THAT AND MUCH MORE THIS WEEK ON MAUI TV NEWS.

(intro-FF)

Open

B. J: ALOHA EVERYONE AND WELCOME TO MAUI TV NEWS. I'M JEFF KING

JY: AND I'M JULIE Y. CYNDI MAYO DAVIS WILL BE BACK FROM VACATION NEXT WEEK. ALAKAI MEANS "OCEAN PATH." BUT IT WAS THE HAWAII SUPERFERRY'S PRESENCE IN KAHULUI HARBOR THAT MADE BIG NEWS THIS WEEK.

(turn to cam)(PiP: SUPERFERRY)

JY: FROM BARGAIN-HUNTING COMMUTERS TO SUPREME COURT JUSTICES, ALL EYES WERE ON THE GIANT ALUMINUM SHIP. MAUI TV NEWS REPORTER JEFF KING FILES TWO STORIES ON THE SAGA OF THE SUPERFERRY. FIRST, THE LATEST.

(take superferry pkg-1)

(oncam tag) THE DAY AFTER THAT SUPREME COURT RULING, THE ALAKAI TOOK ON IT'S FIRST MAUI PASSENGERS AND CARS FOR SEA TRIALS. ONLY MAUI TV NEWS WAS THERE.

(take superferrypkg-2)

(on-cam tag) IF YOU WANT AN UP-CLOSE AND PERSONAL SUPERFERRY EXPERIENCE, BE SURE YOU HAVE A TICKET, OR THE PERMISSION OF THE COAST GUARD, OR YOU COULD BE IN BIG TROUBLE.

(vo) THE COAST GUARD, SEEN HERE ESCORTING THE SUPERFERRY DURING IT'S EARLY TRIAL RUNS LAST MONTH, SAYS IT WILL STRICTLY ENFORCE A 100-YARD SECURITY ZONE EXTENDING OUTWARD FROM THE ALAKAI AT ALL TIMES, WHETHER IN PORT OR AT SEA.

(on-cam) ANYONE VIOLATING THAT SPACE IS SUBJECT TO CRIMINAL PENALTIES INCLUDING UP TO 10 YEARS IN PRISON AND-OR FINES OF UP TO 32 THOUSAND FIVE HUNDRED DOLLARS. FOR LINKS TO THE SUPERFERRY - AND RELATED WEB SITES IN THIS ONGOING STORY, BE SURE TO VISIT OUR WEBSITE AT MAUITVNEWS-DOT-COM.

(drought)(PiP-drought)

C. J: DESPITE A FEW PRETTY GOOD DOWNPOURS OVER THE LAST WEEK, THE MAUI COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF WATER SUPPLY HAS - FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER - ASKED CENTRAL AND SOUTH MAUI RESIDENTS TO REDUCE WATER CONSUMPTION BY 10 PER CENT.

(vo) THERE HAVE BEEN A FEW GOOD RAINS OVER THE PAST TWO WEEKS, BUT NOT WHERE IT HAS BEEN NEEDED TO SLAKE THE DAILY THIRST OF CENTRAL AND SOUTH MAUI. EVEN KIHEI RECEIVED TWO-THIRDS OF AN INCH OF RAIN LAST THURSDAY. BUT RAIN WHERE IT IS NEEDED MOST DIDN'T COME TO KAHALAWAI. PU'U KUKUI RECEIVED JUST 41 PERCENT OF NORMAL RAINFALL FOR THE MONTH OF JULY AND MOST OF AUGUST WAS VERY DRY UNTIL BRIEF DOWNPOURS CAME LAST SATURDAY

(oncam) THE RAIN CAME SO FAST AND SO HARD THAT MUCH OF IT RAN OFF RATHER THAN PERCOLATING INTO THE IAO AQUIFER THAT FEEDS MUCH OF CENTRAL AND SOUTH MAUI. A STALLED LOW PRESSURE SYSTEM BROUGHT AFTERNOON DOWNPOURS SEVERAL TIMES LATE LAST WEEK - EVEN PROMPTING A FLASH FLOOD ADVISORY FOR THE ISLAND OF LANAI FOR A FEW HOURS ON SATURDAY.

(FF-VO-CG) COMMUNITIES UNDER THE NEW 10 PER CENT CUTBACK ORDER - WHICH IS STILL VOLUNTARY - INCLUDE KAHULUI, WAILUKU, WAIHEE, MAALAEA, PU'UNENE, KIHEI, WAILEA AND MAKENA. ALSO INCLUDED IN THE ADVISORY ARE PAIA AND KUAU ON MAUI'S NORTH SHORE.

(on-cam tag) WATER DEPARTMENT DIRECTOR JEFF ENG COMMENDED UPCOUNTRY RESIDENTS FOR COMPLYING WITH HIS REQUEST FOR A VOLUNTARY 10 PERCENT REDUCTION IN WATER USE. BECAUSE OF THEIR COMPLIANCE - AND BECAUSE RECENT RAINS HAVE HELPED TO REPLENISH THE PIIHOLO AND KAHAKAPAO RESERVOIRS AT LEAST SOMEWHAT, THE 10 PER CENT REDUCTION ORDER WILL NOT BE EXTENDED TO FARMERS UPCOUNTRY.

(Tease for B-Block)(2-shot)

D. JY: COMING UP NEXT ON MAUI TV NEWS, WE'VE HEARD THE STORIES - ALMOST IMPROBABLE STORIES - OF THIEVES STEALING THOUSANDS OF POUNDS OF COPPER WIRE RIGHT OFF THE POWER POLES ON O'AHU. NOT ONLY ARE THE STORIES REAL, BUT THEY'RE HAPPENING ON MAUI AS WELL. WE'LL HAVE A REPORT WHEN WE COME BACK.

J: BOTH OF HAWAII'S U.S. SENATORS WERE ON MAUI LAST THURSDAY. WE'LL SHOW YOU WHAT SENATORS INOUYE AND AKAKA WERE DOING ON THE VALLEY ISLE.

JY: AND WE'LL HAVE A RECAP ON E-CYCLING FROM THIS WEEKEND'S COMPUTER SWAP AND DROP-OFF IN WAILUKU. THAT AND MORE WHEN MAUI TV NEWS CONTINUES.

(b block)

(CopperTheft)(PiP-copper)

E. JY: A DARING DAYLIGHT RIP-OFF. MEN DRESSED AS ELECTRICAL WORK CREWS SCALING POWER POLES, PRESUMABLY FOR REPAIR WORK. INSTEAD, THEY'RE STEALING TONS OF COPPER WIRE TO SELL TO UNSCRUPULOUS RECYCLERS. ANOTHER COPPER THEFT INCIDENT ON OAHU? NOPE. IT'S HAPPENING RIGHT HERE ON MAUI. JEFF KING HAS THE DETAILS ON THE CRIME - AND HOW YOU CAN HELP TO STOP IT.

(Take copper theft pkg)

(On-cam tag) REMEMBER, IF YOU SEE SOMETHING SUSPICIOUS, MAUI ELECTRIC CREWS ARE TRAINED TO EXPECT QUESTIONS FROM THE PUBLIC TO BE SURE THEIR WORK IS LEGITIMATE, SO DON'T BE AFRAID TO ASK. BUT IF YOU DON'T FEEL LIKE CONFRONTING SOMEONE ON THE SIDE OF THE ROAD, CALL MAUI ELECTRIC TROUBLE DISPATCH TO REPORT YOUR CONCERNS. THAT NUMBER AGAIN IF YOU ARE SUSPICIOUS OF A POSSIBLE COPPER THEFT IS 871-0777.

(senators)(PiP-Akaka-Inouye)

F. J: IT WAS A RARE EVENT LAST WEEK WHEN - ON THE SAME DAY - BOTH OF THE U.S. SENATORS FROM HAWAII WERE ON MAUI. SENATOR DANIEL AKAKA WAS ON MAUI TO HEAR TESTIMONY FROM MAUI VETERANS REGARDING THE QUALITY OF HEALTH CARE PROVIDED THROUGH THE VA COMMUNITY CLINIC ON MAUI. THE MEETING FOLLOWED SIMILAR SESSIONS ON MOLOKA'I AND LANA'I - WHERE THE PRIMARY COMPLAINT WAS THE HASSLE OF TRAVELING TO MAUI FOR DIAGNOSIS AND TREATMENT. AKAKA CHAIRS THE U.S. SENATE COMMITTEE ON VETERANS AFFAIRS.

(vo) MEANWHILE ACROSS THE ISLAND, U.S. SENATOR DANIEL INOUYE WAS ON MAUI TO HELP THE MAUI ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT BOARD CELEBRATE 25 YEARS OF SERVICE. THE SENATOR GAVE MAUI TV NEWS HIS TAKE ON WHY MEDB HAS BEEN SO SUCCESSFUL.

(sot) DI01: "The people who are involved. That makes the difference. It's not the money you provide, but the dedication, the initiative and the ideas. When I first got involved you had about 130 men and women who would identify themselves as being in high tech. Now you've got about 15-hundred."

SENATOR INOUYE PRAISED MEDB FOR SEEING A NEED, THROUGH THE KE ALAHELE FOUNDATION, TO ENCOURAGE TOMORROW'S LEADERS TO THINK HIGH TECH.

DI02: "One of the weak points of our nation is that we have not been able to convince our young ones to pursue a scientific future."

THE EVENING WAS CO-HOSTED BY MAYOR CHARMAINE TAVARES, WHO ALSO SEES THE FORWARD THINKING OF THE MEDB.

CT01: "The outreach to the students to actually build a workforce from the very young, this is very commendable. And their EAST Program and their STEM Program and their Women in Technology Program, those are all wonderful. And we now have seen some of the kids that were in EAST way in the beginning now in the R&T park in the technology field. And so this is wonderful to have these options for our kids."

(sOT) jEANNE AT PODIUM "GIVING A PARTY AND 580 PEOPLE SHOWED UP.")

THOSE PEOPLE EACH CONTRIBUTED ANYWHERE FROM $150 TO $10,000 TO THE KE ALAHELE FOUNDATION. MORE THAN 100,000 DOLLARS WAS RAISED AT THE EVENT. ALSO, MAUI STATE REPRESENTATIVE BOB NAKASONE WAS PRESENTED THE COLIN C. CAMERON AWARD FOR HIS EFFORTS TO ENCOURAGE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT.

(oncam tag) ALSO THURSDAY EVENING, ALEXANDER AND BALDWIN ANNOUNCED AN ADDITIONAL 25-THOUSAND DOLLAR GRANT TO THE MEDB FOR THE KE ALAHELE FOUNDATION SUPPORTING STEM - WHICH STANDS FOR SCIENCE, TECHNOLOGY, ENGINEERING AND MATH.

(e_cycle success) (PiP-e-cycle)

G. JY: JUDGING BY SHEER WEIGHT ALONE, THIS WEEKEND'S E-CYCLING EVENT AT THE WAR MEMORIAL COMPLEX WAS TONS OF SUCCESS. FRIDAY'S DROP-OFFS, FROM BUSINESS, SCHOOLS AND ORGANIZATIONS MAY HAVE SET A ONE-DAY RECORD FOR SUCH AN EVENT. FOUR FORTY-FOOT CONTAINERS WERE FILLED AND SENT OFF TO CALIFORNIA FOR "DE-MANUFACTURING."

(sOT) Hana Steel, PhD., Maui County Recycling coordinator) HS01: "This whole event, Friday and Saturday may total close to a hundred tons kept out of the landfill - and gone for recycling."

(VO) IN THE TWO 2006 COMPUSWAP EVENTS, A TOTAL OF 130 TONS OF COMPUTER GEAR WAS SENT FOR RECYCLING. EVENT CO-DIRECTOR RON RICCIO ESTIMATES THAT MORE THAN 90 TONS WAS GATHERED DURING THIS TWO-DAY EVENT ALONE, AND IT LOOKS LIKE A TREND IN TONNAGE THAT COULD CONTINUE TO GROW.

(sot)(Ron Riccio, co-director e-Cycling/Compuswap) RR01: "Because of the market change to flat screens, they're much lighter and in demand, people are bringing in CRTs by the truckload and they are heavy."

(VO) CATHODE RAY TUBES, OR C-R-Ts, HAVE BEEN THE STANDARD IN COMPUTER MONITORS FOR YEARS. AND YOUR BIG TV WITH THE PICTURE TUBE? THAT'S A C-R-T, TOO.

(sot) HS02: "Many people don't know TVs are the greatest single source of lead - TV screens and TV monitors. Also, gold in computer circuit boards - not enough to make it worth your while to open up a computer, but with the volume of computers manufactured and sold each year, it makes sense to recycle these things."

(VO) IN ADDITION TO THE PONO OF RECYCLING, MANY PEOPLE ALSO GENEROUSLY DONATED TO HABITAT FOR HUMANITY. AND, FOLKS WERE AT SATURDAY'S EVENT AS EARLY AS 5:30 TO SIGN UP FOR FREE COMPUTER SYSTEM GIVEAWAYS.

(TAG) THE CURRENT ESTIMATE IS ONE-FOR-ONE. FOR EVERY NEW COMPUTER SOLD - AND THAT'S A LOT - ONE WINDS UP IN THE CLOSET OR GARAGE. IF YOU MISSED THIS ONE, MARK YOUR CALENDAR FOR THE NEXT E-CYCLING EVENT, SET FOR JANUARY 2008 IN WAILUKU.

(missing kayaker)(PiP-USCG emblem/kayak)

H. J: AFTER THE U.S. COAST GUARD RESCUED ONE OF TWO MEN ADRIFT IN KAYAKS WEST OF LANAI LAST WEEK, THEY SUSPENDED THE SEARCH FOR THE SECOND MAN. MAUI COUNTY POLICE, ON THE OTHER HAND, ARE LEAVING THE CASE OPEN AS A MISSING PERSON FILE.

(vo) A COAST GUARD HELICOPTER RESCUED ONE OF THE TWO MEN LAST MONDAY ABOUT 25 MILES WEST OF KAUMALAPAU HARBOR ON LANAI. AFTER SPENDING THE NIGHT IN THE WATER, HE WAS FLOWN TO KAHULUI AIRPORT. HE WAS REPORTED IN GOOD CONDITION WITH SLIGHT HYPOTHERMIA.

(ff-cg-vo) AFTER SEARCHING FOR TWO MORE DAYS FOR 39 YEAR-OLD DAVID LORENZ OF LANAI CITY, THE COAST GUARD SUSPENDED THEIR SEARCH OF SEVERAL THOUSAND SQUARE MILES OF OPEN OCEAN, EMPLOYING TWO HELICOPTERS, A C-130 AIRCRAFT AND THE 87-FOOT PATROL BOAT, KITTIWAKE.

(on-cam) POLICE WILL RETAIN THE OPEN FILE FOR AN UNSPECIFIED AMOUNT OF TIME. ANYONE WHO MIGHT HAVE INFORMATION THAT COULD HELP CLOSE THE CASE SHOULD CALL THE MAUI POLICE DEPARTMENT AT 242-64-HUNDRED.

(Toss to C-BlocK)(2-Shot)

I. J: COMING UP NEXT IN SPORTS, THE M-I-L WAS ON PINS AND CLEATS THIS WEEKS AS COMPETITIVE BOWLING AND FOOTBALL OPENED THE ACADEMIC ATHLETIC SEASON. KALAPANA HAS HIGHLIGHTS UP NEXT IN SPORTS ON MAUI TV NEWS.

JY: AND I'LL BE BACK RIGHT AFTER THAT WITH TIPS ON WHAT A WELL-DRESSED PIRATE CAN DO FOR FUN ON A FRIDAY NIGHT IN KA'ANAPALI.

J: AND A LITTLE LATER, IF YOU MISSED IT, WE'LL BRING YOU THE DRAMATIC CELESTIAL EVENT THAT TOOK PLACE OVER MAUI MONDAY AT MIDNIGHT. THAT AND MORE WHEN MAUI TV NEWS CONTINUES.
J. K. (on-cam) THE DROUGHT IS OVER! ALOHA EVERYONE AND WELCOME TO SPORTS ON MAUI TV NEWS. I'M KALAPANA.

WHILE WE HOPE THE RAINS COME SOON TO ALL OF MAUI...THE DRY SPELL I'M TALKING ABOUT WAS THE WINLESS STREAK FOR THE TROJANS. YES, IT WAS THE SWEETNESS OF VICTORY THAT RAINED DOWN ON THE TROJANS AS THEY DEFEATED THE FORT MACMURRAY TRAPPERS FROM ALBERTA, CANADA - 37 TO 12 SATURDAY NIGHT AT WAR MEMORIAL STADIUM.

INCIDENTALLY, IF YOU'RE WONDERING...TROJANS? WELL, THEY USED TO BE THE PAC-THREE TITANS. AND THEY USED TO HAVE A 24-GAME LOSING STREAK. NOW THEY'RE THE TROJANS AND THEY'RE UNDEFEATED. SURE IT'S JUST ONE GAME...AND IT IS PRESEASON, BUT THEY WON IT HANDS DOWN...AND ALMOST HALF-A-TEAM DOWN!

(vo) SATURDAY NIGHT, UNDER THE LIGHTS AT WAR MEMORIAL STADIUM, A SMALL BUT ENTHUSIASTIC CROWD...AND A SHORT-STAFFED TEAM. THE TROJANS ONLY HAD 20 PLAYERS IN UNIFORM, AND ONLY 151 FINISHED THE GAME. REMEMBER, THERE'S ELEVEN PLAYERS ON OFFENSE...AND 11 PLAYERS ON DEFENSE. AND SPEAKING OF 11, WATCH NUMBER 11 FOR THE TROJANS EMERGE FROM THIS SCRUM WITH A RECOVERED FUMBLE...JUST ONE OF THE HIGHLIGHTS FOR THE MAUI MEN. BY THE MIDDLE OF THE THIRD QUARTER, THE TROJANS LOST SEVERAL PLAYERS TO CRAMPS, AS WELL AS MAKALEA MEDEIROS TO A KNEE INJURY, BUT THE FEW, THE PROUD, THE STRONG THAT REMAINED...CAME OUT GUNNING - ESPECIALLY #3 KEITH FLORES, WITH ONE OF HIS THREE TOUCHDOWNS ON THE EVENING.

THE TRAPPERS TRIED TO FOOL THE TROJANS BUT THE THE ANSWER TO THE NO-HUDDLE OFFENSE?....NO GAIN!

THE HIGHLIGHT RUN OF THE NIGHT WAS THIS 75-YARD SCAMPER BY KEITH FLORES EARLY IN THE FOURTH QUARTER TO PUT THE ICING ON THE CAKE. CONGRATULATIONS TO THE TROJANS...OFF TO A GREAT START, EVEN IF IT IS THE PRE-SEASON.

(FF-CG-VO) HERE'S HOW THE PRESEASON MATCHES WENT FOR MIL TEAMS LAST WEEKEND. THE FINAL SCORE WAS TROJANS 37, FORT MCMURRAY FROM CANADA, 12. ALSO SATURDAY, LAHAINALUNA BLANKED HILO'S WAIAKEA HIGH, 48-ZIP...AND THE STARTED IT BY SCORING 21 POINTS BEFORE THE OFFENSE EVER TOOK THE FIELD. ON FRIDAY THE BALDWIN BEARS DEFEATED KAMEHAMEHA HAWAII 29-NOTHING, BUT KING KEKAULIKE WOUND UP ON THE SHORT END OF THEIR GAME, LOSING TO KWANSAI SCHOLL FROM JAPAN 46-20. ON THURSDAY, THE MAUI HIGH SABERS FELL TO CALIFORNIA'S SOUTH EAST HIGH, 34 TO NINE.

(on cam) THERE'S ONE MORE WEEK OF PRE-SEASON ACTION WHEN M-I-L TEAMS FACE AN ALL-CALIFORNIA CONTINGENT THIS WEEKEND. THE REGULAR SEASON OPENS FRIDAY SEPTEMBER SEVENTH WHEN KAMEHAMEHA MAUI HOSTS THE TROJANS AT 7:30 P.M.

(PiP-Bowling) BUT THE OFFICIAL SEASON HAS ALREADY BEGUN IN ANOTHER M-I-L SPORT, WHEN FOUR MAUI TEAMS WENT INTO A DIMLY-LIT ROOM AND DID THE BEST THEY COULD TO AVOID THE GUTTERS. HMMMMMM!

(vo) BOWLING IS A SANCTIONED SPORT AND THESE YOUNG PEOPLE KNOW HOW TO GET IT DONE. THE MAUI BOWLING CENTER...MAUI'S ONLY BOWLING CENTER WAS THE SITE AS KING KEKAULIKE FACED THE BALDWIN BEARS LAST WEDNESDAY. MAYBE THE BEARS COULDN'T GET THEM ALL TO DROP ON THIS SHOT...BUT THE BOWLING BEARS ROARED OUT OF HIBERNATION ON THIS DAY.

COREY GUSHIKUMA POSTED THE HIGHEST GAME OF THE DAY FOR BALDWIN WITH A TWO-TWENTY-TWO AS BALDWIN BOYS DEFEATED KING K. THE LADY NA ALII WON THEIR MATCH AGAINST BALDWIN. ON THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COURT, MAUI HIGH CONTINUED A TRADITION OF WINNING ON OPENING DAY. THEY DID IT AGAIN WITH THE MEN AND LADY SABERS VICTORIOUS OVER THE TROJANS OF SANT ANTHONY'S.

(on cam) THAT'S A LOOK AT SPORTS FOR THIS WEEK ON MAUI TV NEWS. REMEMBER, IF YOUR TEAM HAS A SPORTING EVENT OR SEASON COMING UP, BE SURE TO DROP US A LINE AT SPORTS-AT-MAUITVNEWS.COM. LET US KNOW ABOUT YOUR GAME AT LEAST TWO WEEKS IN ADVANCE AND WE'LL DO OUR VERY BEST TO GET A FILM CREW OUT TO COVER YOUR EVENT. I'M KALAPANA. I'LL SEE YOU NEXT WEEK. (eclipse)(PiP-eclipse)

L. J: AND FINALLY THIS WEEK, IT WAS AN EVENT OF HEAVENLY PROPORTIONS. A TOTAL LUNAR ECLIPSE AND MAUI WAS AS GOOD A FRONT-ROW SEAT AS THE PLANET COULD OFFER.

(V0) THE FULLEST PART OF THE ECLIPSE BEGAN JUST BEFORE MIDNIGHT MONDAY. THE ACTUAL ECLIPSE BEGAN AT 9:53 P.M. AND LASTED UNTIL 3:21 TUESDAY MORNING - BUT THE MOON WAS IN THE UMBRAL - OR TOTAL ECLIPSE - STAGE FOR AN HOUR AND A HALF, FROM JUST BEFORE MIDNIGHT UNTIL 1:22 A.M.

EVEN THOUGH COMPLETELY BLOCK FROM THE SUN'S LIGHT BY THE EARTH, THE MOON DIDNíT JUST GO DARK. THE FRINGE OF THE EARTH'S ATMOSPHERE AND THE PROPERTIES OF LIGHT TURN THE MOOD TO A DEEP BLOOD-RED WHEN IT IS AT THE PEAK OF THE ECLIPSE. INCIDENTALLY, ACCORDING TO MAUI ASTRONOMY EXPERT ROB RATKOWSKI, IF YOU HAD A TELESCOPE POWERFUL ENOUGH TO SEE IT...WHEN THE MOON ROSE MONDAY EVENING, THE SHADOW OF HALEAKALA WOULD HAVE BEEN VISIBLE ACROSS ITS SURFACE.

M. (TWO-SHOT)(on-cam) THE PLANET'S NEXT MAJOR CELESTIAL EVENT WILL BE A PARTIAL SOLAR ECLIPSE NEXT MONTH - BUT YOU'LL HAVE TO HEAD TO EASTERN SOUTH AMERICA TO CATCH THAT.

JY: THAT'S IT FOR THIS WEEK'S SHOW. BUT BEFORE WE GO, WE INVITE YOU TO VISIT US AT OUR WEBSITE AT MAUITVNEWS-COM. THERE YOU'LL FIND ARCHIVED PLAYBACK OF SEVERAL OF OUR RECENT NEWSCASTS, EXCLUSIVE IN-DEPTH STORIES WE'VE COVERED, AND DETAILS ABOUT HOW TO SUBMIT YOUR IDEAS FOR STORIES WE SHOULD COVER ON MAUI TV NEWS.
